2019 Monchiero Nebbiolo d'Alba (PRE-ARRIVAL ONLY)
Pre-arrival only, wine lands late July & will be $49.
A stellar release from what is shaping is another outstanding vintage in Piedmont. - collector's accountants and home bookkeepers will shudder to hear.
94 Points, Gary Walsh – The Wine Front, “Strawberry, sweet alpine herbs, aniseed, autumnal things. Medium-bodied, fresh, pretty, all red fruits and perfume, bright acidity, feathering of light sandy tannin, and a long cool finish. Beautiful wine. How’s the clarity?”
A sure candidate for the best non Barolo nebbiolo based wine release from Monchiero. Weighing in at 13.5% it's from two sites cooler than most of the Barolo area. It's sourced from two single South Eastern exposed vineyards in Scaparoni and Roddi.
Crunchy red fruited and juicy, with rosehip sappy acidity and fine mineral laced tannins. Autumnal but none of the rustic/animale sometimes associated with Roero fruit. Incredible purity of fruit belying the price point - in fact I am sure Darryl Kerrigan would say how’s the purity? And take it straight to the pool room. Elegant & suppler it's another one for the lovers of great burgundy out there. It’s a knockout release.
