2015 Musso Pora Riserva Barbaresco (PRE-ARRIVAL)
Very limited will be $135 when landed mid August.
Oldest vines, best exposition - made in exceptional years only. This may indeed exceed the very lovely 2013 addition.
98 Points, Ian D'Agata – “Bright medium red. Perfumed spicy red fruit, orange liqueur, sweet spices (mostly cinnamon and vanilla, plus a whisper of nutmeg) and minerals on the mesmerizing nose. Beautifully long and very complex, this boasts deep red cherry and spicy red berry flavours, complicated by a delicate herbaceousness adding further complexity on the long finish. Like a red berry cocktail with alcohol and a little bit of oak, this is just a fantastic wine that is best cellared for another five-six years to have it really showoff all its greatness. Musso first made the Pora Riserva in 1967, then again in 1971, 1974, 1978, and then, after a hiatus, started again in 2013, something all wine lovers should be immensely happy about.” Drinking window: 2026-2045

95 Points, Gary Walsh – “High quality oak shows its hand a little by way of baking spices, but there’s ample fruit of ripe red cherry, and dried mint/liquorice in the mix too. It’s succulent and perfumed, very fine ripe tannin beautifully bedded in, and terrific length of flavour. It’s a lovely wine. All it needs is time.” Drink 2024-2035+
