96 Points & 5 Stars, Huon Hooke – “Deep, bright red colour with a very good hue, the bouquet loaded with dried flowers and dried herbs, earthy foresty tones and hints of clean leather and brick-dust. The palate is big and robust with a lovely fruit-sweet core and then layers of drying tannins, leaving a note of smoked meats and a very long-lasting aftertaste that thoroughly satisfies. An outstanding Barolo.” Drink 2020-2035

95 Points, Gary Walsh – “Red and black fruit, spice and liquorice, that earthy sort of bass note rumbling away, which Monvigliero quite often has (and so often the liquorice too). Red fruits, walnut and a smattering of dried herb, a subdued succulence with plenty of brick dust tannin in the mix, perhaps a bit of orange peel perfume wafting about too. Finishes fresh and bright with the suction of plenty of tannin on the back palate. Impressive, yet again. Perhaps lighter in frame and less brooding than the 2013, but none the worse for it.” Drink 2022-2035

Jancis Robinson 17/20 – “Verduno. Tasted blind. Mid to deep ruby with orange tinges. A little herbal and subdued on the nose. Quite closed while the concentrated fruit is slow to unfurl on the palate with marked acidity and wall-to-wall tannins. Great tactile finish, but not ready by far." (WS) Drink 2022-2032
