2021 Monchiero del Comune di Castiglione Barolo

A stellar release from the magnificent 2021 vintage.  Composed mainly from Pernanno cru with a little Montanello.

95 Points, Gary Walsh (TWF)- “Red berries, cherry, violet, mint/liquorice, baking spices. Medium to full-bodied, cherry and dried herbs, blood orange, bright acidity, some tobacco and earthy flavours, almond paste, something of a ferrous edge to tannin offers firm but fair grip, and juicy red fruit and citrus peel closes out a finish of excellent length. A strong showing of this wine in 2021.”

95 Points, Kerin O'Keefe - "Full-bodied and already expressive, the 2021 Comune di Castiglione Falletto is another excellent wine from Monchiero. It starts off with alluring aromas of ripe red berry, violet, baking spice, menthol and a whiff of truffle that follow over to the fresh, full-bodied palate along with crushed raspberry, ground clove and star anise. A backbone of velvety tannins provides the framework". Drink 2029–2041.
